Who We Are

The common thread bringing us together is the desire to improve our public speaking. Our membership is predominantly LGBT; however, we embrace people from all walks of life.

Our strength is derived from the diversity in professional experiences including; corporate, public, and non-profit.

As a bonus our members come from places as far flung as Singapore, Ireland, Germany, Nicaragua, Mexico, Belgium and the Netherlands to name a few. But most of all we are the most fabulous toastmasters group in the world.

Speech Evaluator
22 April 2010

All speeches in Toastmasters are formally evaluated at the end of the meeting, but the evaluations are friendly and constructive. Listen to Mike Barsul, our District Governor, evaluate a recent speech by a Club member.

Speeches are evaluated on many criteria depending on the speech number and Toastmasters manual from which the speaker is working, and the evaluations are always done to improve your public-speaking skills. Evaluating a speech is a real art, and Toastmasters sponsors regular contests in which evaluators can compete.

The alternate title of this speech is "A Very Organized Speech about Organizing Your Speech." Listen to Rainbow Toastmasters member Kristy Lin Billuni speak about how to structure your speech using a novel pattern that few of us would associate with public speaking.

Toastmasters who wish to achieve the level of Competent Communicator give ten speeches like this. They are usually between 5 and 7 minutes, and each speech focuses on one aspect of effective public speaking, such as vocal variety, body language, and visual aids.
