Weekly Meetings—Everybody Welcome!

Rainbow Toastmasters meets every Thursday from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the LGBT Center at 1800 Market St. in San Francisco.

Visitors are always welcome to Rainbow Toastmasters meeting. No need to register, just show up! Visitors are never required to speak if they don't wish to, so just sit and watch our meetings and see how we work. Social time after each meeting, and many of us go to dinner. Visitors are welcome then as well!

The GLBT Center is on Market St. approximately half-way between the Church and Van Ness MUNI stops, and is also served by the Muni F line. Parking in the area is available but can be difficult at times, so if you're driving please arrive early and give yourself plenty of time.

Speech Evaluation
Mike Barsul
16 September 2010

All speeches in Toastmasters are formally evaluated at the end of the meeting, but the evaluations are friendly and constructive. Listen to Mike Barsul, our District Governor, evaluate a recent speech by a Club member.

Speeches are evaluated on many criteria depending on the speech number and Toastmasters manual from which the speaker is working, and the evaluations are always done to improve your public-speaking skills. Evaluating a speech is a real art, and Toastmasters sponsors regular contests in which evaluators can compete.

Distinguished Club: 2007-2011
Congratulations to all of our members for meeting their personal public speaking and leadership goals this year! Through our individual achievements, we have collectively achieved the President's Distinguished Club Award—for the 4th year in a row! This award is the highest level of achievement a club can receive from Toastmasters International. It indicates that our club has met at least 9 of 10 Toastmasters International club goals for the year. These goals include: 4 Competent Communicators, 2 Advanced Communicators, 2 Competent or Advanced Leaders, 5 new members, maintaining at least 20 active members, training a minimum of 4 club officers (all our officers were trained), and submitting membership and leadership paperwork to National in a timely fashion. Rainbow Toastmasters was 10 for 10 this year! In addition to receiving the President's Distinguished Club Award, Rainbow Toastmasters also received the Smedley Award for Membership this year thanks to our VP of Membership, Michael P. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to making our club distinguished in 2010-2011. Let's do it again next year!
